The Port Isabel High Lady Tarpon softball team bowed out of the 2016 UIL post-season playoffs last Friday when they lost their first-round, bi-district game to Rockport-Fulton, 8-4, in Kingsville.
It was a disappointing end to a season that saw the Lady Tarpons win five of their last six games and tie Zapata for third in the final standings of District 32-4A. They went into the post-season playoffs as the No.4 seed when P.I. lost a coin flip with Zapata.
The game turned in the sixth inning. Port Isabel took early leads of 1-0 and 4-1 and was on top, 4-2, going to the bottom half of the sixth.
