Park rangers, sheriff’s office have busy week

On March 11, 2023, a deceased male was found at the Andy Bowie Parking Lot, according to the Cameron County Park Ranger Division.
According to the press release, park rangers were dispatched at approximately 16:45 hours to the lot. Upon arrival, the park rangers found the male inside a recreational vehicle.
South Padre Island Medical Services conducted medical procedures to identify signs of life.
The male was identified as George Walter Hernandez after further investigation.
According to the press release, there were no signs of foul play, however the investigation is ongoing.
On March 12, 2023, a Cameron County Sheriff Deputy arrested a male on the 100 block of E. Harbor St in South Padre Island.
While patrolling the South Padre Island area, the Deputy observed a male running thru traffic. In addition, the Deputy observed the male was having a hard time keeping his balance, and, based on his experience, he determined the male was highly intoxicated.
As the Deputy attempted to make contact with the male, he disregarded all the commands given by the Deputy and a foot pursuit ensued, according to the press release.
After a small foot pursuit, and with the assistance of the South Padre Island Police Department, the male was quickly apprehended.
The male was identified as Simon Ramos Jr, 26 years old.
In the course of the foot pursuit, Ramos suffered a small laceration to the mouth area, he was quickly evaluated and cleared by South Padre Island EMS Paramedics.
Ramos was placed under arrest and charged with PUBLIC INTOXICATION and EVADING ARREST ON FOOT.
While Ramos was being transported, he allegedly attempted to open the door to the Deputy’s marked Cameron County Patrol Unit.
In addition, Ramos was charged with RESISTING ARREST/TRANSPORTATION.
Ramos was booked into Carrizalez-Rucker Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing.
