Point  Isabel  Independent School District has finished counting votes and has revealed the outcome of their school board election. For Board of Trustees Place Number Seven Cecilia Castillo won the election with 529 votes against Nancy Martinez’s 158. Castillo had a few things to say of the election, words for the voters, and of her plans now moving forward

Beginning, Mrs. Castillo said, “Well first of all, I would like to thank God for this journey that I have been on; for giving me the strength, the energy, wisdom, guidance and the patience throughout this campaign. I was able to reconnect with so many friends, former students, staff and so many people. I made new friends and of course enemies along the way of this journey and the journey continues. I can confidently say that this teacher continues to teach and to learn new lessons.”

“It is national teacher appreciation week, and let’s not forget the hard work and long hours our teachers and staff dedicate to our students. I’ve always said and I will continue to say teaching is the hardest job in the world,” Castillo continued. “We have accomplished so much in the last three years, all in an effort to further the quality of life for our students and we want to continue to provide quality of life and experiences for our students.”

To the voters specifically Castillo said, “To those who have listened and heard why I care so much about our schools and community I thank you. To those who have complimented our school district and have shown me how much they care about our kids and community, I thank you.”
