The City of South Padre Island has invited the community to celebrate Independence Day with a “spectacular display of lights over the bay.” Fourth of July Fireworks will be lighting up the Laguna Madre Bay at 9:15 p.m. The best place to view this show on the Island would be the Entertainment District.
In the morning of Independence Day, the City is also hosting a Fourth of July Walking Beach Parade. Line up for the parade starts at 9 a.m., and the parade begins a half hour later at 9:30 a.m. The route will start at Whitecap Circle Beach Access #8, between East Redsnapper Street and East Swordfish Street. The parade route ends at Beach Access #4, between East Pompano Street and East Sheepshead Street. According to the City, this is a new route. Giveaways will be taking place, and watermelon and water will be provided to participants.
On the other side of the bridge, in Port Isabel, there will be fireworks two days prior to Independence Day, July 2, also at 9:15 p.m. A “special lighthouse tour” will be available during the firework show at the Port Isabel Lighthouse State Historic Site, 421 E. Queen Isabella Blvd., Port Isabel.
