The Laguna Madre Water District [LMWD] reviewed nominations and chose Castillo as Employee of the Month for June 2023. Becky is an integral part of the District and has been described as the “face and voice of the District” because she interacts with customers on a daily basis, according to LMWD.
Becky has been with the District for 12 years and started working at LMWD in the Customer Service Department as a cashier. She was promoted to an assistant, prior to moving to her current position as Billing Clerk in the Finance Department, where she continues to assist customers with their billing questions.
In the letter nominating her, Accounting Manager Orlando Ruiz stated that, “She is always courteous when speaking to customers regarding their water consumption.” Castillo is always helpful, answering customer’s questions with “professionalism and concern to help them find out why their water bill is higher than usual,” according to LMWD.
LMWD stated that Castillo is a team player, not only responsible for billing and helping customers, but also working with water distribution to find answers to customer concerns and ensuring billing is accurate.
Castillo says that she enjoys her job because it’s like a “new challenge every day.”
