German food and the pursuit of providing animals with homes and affordable healthcare, doesn’t seem to have much in common, but this weekend, that will change when an upcoming event brings the two together. This Sunday, Hopper Haus Bar & Grill and the Laguna Madre Humane Society [LMHS] will be partnering together to bring Port Isabel and the surrounding communities Barktoberfest.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their fluffy companions to Hopper Haus’s biergarten on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. The grill will be offering discounts on all of its German food specials, including schnitzel and bratwurst. Hopper Haus will also be serving Octoberfest beer. Souvenir pint glasses will be on tap on a first come, first serve basis.
If possible, LMHS will bring adoptable pets to the biergarten. If not, they will bring photos to showcase the loving animals in need of homes.
“Hopper Haus has graciously offered LMHS the opportunity to showcase dogs we know that are eligible for adoption through this event. Barktoberfest will also allow the public a platform to inquire and learn about the services we provide for the lower Rio Grande Valley,” stated Sheree Wood, president of LMHS. “We’re grateful to partner up with a local business like Hopper Haus, and hope this will be the beginning of many successful events.”
Genevieve Moskal, local dog owner, says she is so excited for Barktoberfest this Sunday.
“I definitely think its going to be absolutely fun. It is going to do so much good. The Humane Society does so much amazing work. Personally, I had my dogs and cats go through them and it makes me happy that they are able to do this event,” said Moskal.
Barton Bickerton, an owner of Hopper Haus, hopes that people will come out and adopt, or at least donate to the cause.
