Port Isabel, a charming coastal town in Texas, came alive with excitement during the annual Crowfest celebration. This festive gathering was orchestrated by a local Port Isabellian, Phil Koehler, affectionately known as “whiz§kid.” For the past four years, Phil has dedicated his efforts to making Crowfest a memorable event for the community.

Crowfest was not just about consuming delectable dishes but also featured an engaging dolphin tour, bringing residents and visitors together. The festivities were a resounding success, with people gathering at the launch site and various eateries.

Louis Balderas, the owner of Lab Padre’s live camera stream on YouTube, has played a significant role in fostering a close-knit community known as “The Nerdle.” This community, “the herd of nerds,” comes together daily to closely follow the progress of SpaceX. Their collective expertise and insights often lead to accurate predictions and well-informed guesses about SpaceX events and launches.

When their predictions occasionally miss the mark, they humorously celebrate “eating crow.” This October, that tradition took the form of Crowfest, bringing together space enthusiasts and residents in a festive atmosphere.

Some of the well-known content providers who contribute to the Nerdle community include Jessica Kirsh, the owner of YouTube.com/KirshCam, who, along with camera host Chuck and Elena Mallory, live streams SpaceX activities. Mauricio Atilano, the owner of YouTube.com/c/rgvaerialPhotography, conducts weekly flyovers of SpaceX facilities. Maria Pointer, also known as BocaChicaMaria and owner of YouTube.com/StarshipBocaChica, hosts the first Nerdle camera for Lab Padre.

Maria’s camera view was praised by none other than SpaceX’s Elon Musk, who admitted to looking at it every morning. Maria’s warm invitation to SpaceX workers and Elon himself to join the Nerdle community at Crowfest reflects the spirit of camaraderie that defines this unique gathering.
