In the last meeting of the year, the Port Isabel City Council called a special meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, to take care of routine funding for different line items, like paying the bills and employee attendance and travel to educational programming or marketing opportunities.

During the regular reports, the Fire Department announced when the fire trucks would be driving down the streets of Port Isabel and Laguna Heights on Saturday morning with sirens blaring and handing out candy to the children.

Under old business, the second and final reading of ordinance 704-A, which amended ordinance 704, which provides towing of certain trailers was approved. Note: the notification of the new ordinance was printed on the back of the trash bills that were sent out last week.

Under new business, the following were all approved unless otherwise indicated:
1. The request by Meja & Rose, Inc. to replat lots 40, 40A, 41, 41A, 42, 42A of Harbor Island Subdivision into one lot labeled as 42.
2. A service agreement with the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston for employment of a Community Healthcare Worker to carry out the Tu Salud ¡Si Cuenta! Program (Your health matters!). The program promotes healthy lifestyles and building a culture of health in communities by targeting those who suffer from diabetes, as well as increasing access to fresh, healthy foods, among other things.
3. TABLED until verification of signatures on petition to get a speed bump on West Monroe Street.
4. Entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UTRGV and Port Isabel Police Departments.
