Port Isabel native Alice Delgadillo announced her candidacy for Port Isabel City Commissioner, Place 4.
Born and raised in Port Isabel, Delgadillo graduated from Port Isabel High School Class of 1996. In an interview, she stated that she is a mother of two, a police wife, and has over 25 years of experience with the Edwards Abstract Title Company.
In a prepared statement to the PRESS, Delgadillo stated that she went on to attend Texas State Technical College.
Following her education achievements, Delgadillo began her professional career as a nurse’s aide at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
She then decided to switch careers and enter the real estate world and found her calling.
Delgadillo began her real estate career as a receptionist in 2000 and became an assistant within a few months of employment. She then became an Escrow officer, where she manages and closes real estate transactions. This profession has given her experience helping people and interpersonal and communication skills.
The candidate also recounts that her focus is on becoming more involved in the community and overseeing city employees to ensure they are given the correct resources to help maintain city buildings.
Delgadillo said, “I will attend all city meetings. I will listen to the citizens’ concerns and do my research to make the right decisions for the community as a whole. I would like all city employees to have an opportunity to grow and are sent to all courses to further their education,” she concluded, “I think having accessible recycling bins and switching to compostable bags will help keep our city cleaner.”
Early voting commences on April 22, 2024, at Port Isabel City Hall, 305 E. Maxan St. and runs through April 30, 2024. Election Day is May 4.
