A Port Isabel man is facing a Disorderly Conduct charge for allegedly discharging a firearm on South Padre Island.
According to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), the incident allegedly occurred in the early morning hours of July 5, 2024. According to a CCSO report, that’s when Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Cameron County Beach Access 6 at South Padre Island. The call was in reference to a male subject allegedly discharging a firearm, reads the CCSO report.
Upon arriving, deputies contacted Cameron County Park Rangers who already detained the male suspect, read the report. Sheriff’s deputies then contacted the male suspect who identified himself as 33-year-old Randy Mora of Port Isabel, who said that he had discharged his firearm, a 9mm handgun, towards the water on the beach side of the Island, according to the sheriff’s office.
Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies obtained witness statements corroborating Mora’s statement and placed the subject under arrest for Disorderly Conduct. His firearm, a 9mm handgun, was recovered from his vehicle, according to the CCSO.
He was transported to the Cameron County Carrizales Rucker Detention Center in Olmito pending arraignment. His 9mm handgun was booked as evidence. All parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
