EPAF’s The Kids Left. The Dog Died. Now What? brings fun for all ages

Special to the PARADE

El Paseo Arts Foundation [EPAF] offers Carole Caplan-Lonner’s musical comedy The Kids Left. The Dog Died. Now What? at the SPI Convention Center, on Nov. 4, 5 and 6, 2024. This musical comedy salutes
those valiantly struggling with gravity on their bodies, grandchildren on their self-images, perhaps divorce on their hands and the dating scene on their egos. The risks and uncertainties of being alive come alive
through song and scene. Aging gracefully is the final frontier!

You don’t have to be middle-aged or an empty nester to find the fun in this show. With a vignette-style performance, there is not a dull moment in this fast-paced production. The cast of four portrays over 30
characters and are played by the talented Charles Hoffmeister lll, Sylvia Lester, Rudy Hyde and Yvette Reyes with Sergio Godinez accompanying on the piano.

This entertaining musical about those facing a host of midlife crises first premiered at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2007. Boasting a four-person cast, the show takes a humorous and heartfelt look at
the day-to-day concerns of the over-fifty “empty-nester” crowd, including everything from retirement, AARP, dating to divorce, plastic surgery and grandparenting.

Julie Boughter directs The Kids Left. The Dog Died. Now What? along with our musical director, Sergio Godinez. Bea Johnson takes on the challenging role of stage manager, and she and Julie design the set décor,
painting and props. Wayne Lippoldt directs the set construction, while Mark Haggenmiller takes on lighting and sound responsibilities.

The lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. with a complimentary wine/beer bar. The curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the show are $30 per person, and $25 per person for El Paseo Arts members. Tickets are available at
SOS, The Art Business Incubator, the Art Gallery in Lighthouse Square and online at www.elpaseoarts.org.
