Special to the PRESS
El Paseo Arts Foundation has announced an audition for the role of Libby in the Jan. 10-12, 2025,
production of I Ought to Be in Pictures by Neil Simon.
Libby is a 19-year-old female. She is described as positive, independent and determined. Libby will do
anything to accomplish her goals, whether that goal is to become a movie star or to reconnect with the father she never knew. She is an optimistic, straight-talking young woman.
The audition will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at 11a.m., at the South Padre Island Community
Center, located at 4500 Padre Blvd., South Padre Island, Texas.
Anyone interested in auditioning who cannot attend the open audition on Nov. 9 should contact the
director, JoAnn Evans, at (956) 572-5700, or email joannevans2022@gmail.com. Evans will make every
effort to schedule a special audition appointment.
For audition sides and a synopsis of the plot please email actingpete@gmail.com or visit elpaseoarts.org
According to Evans, the role of Libby is a challenging one, requiring a disciplined and talented young
actress who is willing to take direction and work hard. It requires a large amount of memorization, and a
knack for comedic timing. Dinah Manoff played Libby in the original Broadway production and won a Tony
for Best Featured Actress in 1980.
“It is a role any young actress would love to play,” stated Evans.
Actresses will be asked to read sides from the play.
