The football All-District awards list has been recently released with several Port Isabel players receiving
recognition.
Earning the top All-District award was Port Isabel’s own star running back, Luis Ramos who was selected
as the “District MVP”. Ramos was a dynamic runner who rushed for 1,222 yards on 154 carries with 18
touchdowns and a 7.94 rushing average. He also had nine receptions for 269 yards and one touchdown [TD].
Other Tarpon players earning top All-District selections were: Steven Martinez as Co-Offensive Lineman
of the Year, Edward Garza as Defensive Player of the Year, Christopher Gonzalez as Defensive Lineman of
the Year and Ryan Cinfuegos as Co-Defensive Newcomer of the Year.
First Team honorees: Bryan Martinez (Quarterback), Mario Nava (Center), Enrique Vasquez* (Guard),
Jamil Vasquez* (Tackle), Pedro Gomez (Tight End), Michael Finona (Running Back) and Dylan Green*
(Fullback). Second Team honorees: Oswaldo Hernandez (Tackle). Honorable Mention Honorees: Ryan
Cienfuegos (Fullback), Nathaniel Gonzalez (Inside Receiver) and Anthony “Tony’ Garcia (Outside
Receiver).
Defensively, First Team honorees: Michael Torres (Down Lineman), M. Finona* (Inside Linebacker), A.
Garcia (Safety). Second Team honorees: Carlos Cabrera (Down Lineman), Brian Cienfuegos (Defensive
End), Christian Smith (Corner) and Ty Conaster (Safety). Honorable Mention honorees: Ryantino Martinez
(Down Lineman), Mason Reyes (Down Lineman), Kike Vasquez (Defensive End) and Cleveland Smith
(Corner).
On Special Teams, First Team: Luis Ulloa (Place Kicker) and E. Vasquez (Deep Snapper). Second
Team: Ch. Smith (Punt Return Specialist). Honorable Mention: L. Ramos (Kick Off Return Specialist), Cl.
Smith (Punt Return Specialist) and L. Ulloa (Punter).
In addition, the Texas High School Coaches Association [THSCA] recently released its 2024-2025
Academic All-State Recipients. THSCA recognizes high school student-athletes, trainers and managers
based on graded point average ACT/SAT scores and class rank.
The following Port Isabel Early College High School students have been awarded – Second Team: Melanie
Hernandez Garcia, Cleveland Smith, Christian Smith, Natalie Martinez, Aylin Cano and Emma Villarreal.
Honorable Mention: Ty Conaster, Angel Contreras, Nathaniel Gonzalez, Mario Nava and Enrique Vasquez.
Names marked with a * received a unanimous selection.
