Therapy center opens on Hwy. 100

Surge Mobile Physical Therapy has recently opened a new location in Port Isabel at 1765 Highway 100.
On Saturday, Jan. 25, Surge held its grand opening at the new location. Co-founder Dr. Sergio Martinez said
the event had “a good turnout,” and saw the whole Surge team and past patients commemorate the occasion.
According to Martinez, Surge originally began in Port Isabel in 2019. Before then, Martinez worked in
Harlingen full-time as part of a private practice. Many of his customers came from the Port Isabel-South
Padre Island area.

“One customer became another,” said Martinez, illustrating the growth of his customer base.

According to Martinez, during the pandemic, many people could not attend therapy the usual way. To
alleviate this, the Surge Mobile team took their equipment and treatment to the customers.

“We would take our table and equipment and do our therapy there, of course with the proper attire for
those times,” said Martinez.

The mobile service is being put to rest for the time being, as the Surge team is focused on their brick-and-
mortar operations, including at their new Port Isabel location.

Today, Surge Mobile has two locations in the Rio Grande Valley. When there was only the original one in
Port Isabel, the Surge team noticed many customers were coming from places like Harlingen and
Brownsville, so they decided to open a second location in Olmito to meet guests where they were.
They offer many services, including injury rehabilitation, assisted stretching, pelvic floor therapy for men
and women, sports massage, electrical stimulation and more.
