The 4th Annual Superintendent Scholarship Fishing Tournament is set for April 25-26, 2025, at VIVA
SPI. According to PI-ISD, for the past four years, Superintendent Capistran has proudly hosted this event,
with all proceeds going directly toward student scholarships. “Last year, we were thrilled to award 68
students with $1,500 scholarships each. The year before, we were able to award 32 students with $1,000
each. This year, we’re aiming to keep that incredible momentum going and help even more students achieve
their academic goal,” said Juliette Gonzalez-Barrajas, the district’s communications specialist.

The festivities begin on Friday, April 25, with the Captain’s Party, where all sponsors are invited to enjoy
dinner and complete registration. The evening will also feature live silent auctions, with 100% of proceeds
benefiting student scholarships. Past auction items have included Spurs Suite Passes, UT Austin Longhorn
Game Experiences, UT Golf Outings, and Luis Miguel Concert Tickets.

Auction access is exclusive to event sponsors. If you or your business would like to support the event by
donating an item to the live or silent auction, please reach out to Juliette Barajas at juliette.gonzalez@pi-
isd.net. Your contribution will directly support scholarship opportunities for students.

The fishing tournament officially kicks off on Saturday, April 26, at 6:00 a.m., with anglers having until
11:00 AM to reel in their best catch. Prizes are as follows: 1st Place- $1,000, 2nd Place- $600, 3rd Place –
$400. “We welcome all local anglers to join the tournament!” said Gonzalez-Barrajas. Boat entry begins at
$400, and a variety of sponsorship tiers are available for those who wish to support this cause further.
