Medders seeks reelection

Special to the PRESS

Ken Medders has officially filed for re-election to Place 1 on the South Padre Island City Council, submitting his paperwork on Monday, July 21.

A Cameron County native, Medders brings deep ties to the region and a strong commitment to the future of South Padre Island. Since first being elected, he has worked to bring a number of long-term projects to life
— including the Laguna Boulevard project, also known as the “Locals’ Road,” which he has championed since 2017.

Medders said he hopes to continue working toward the completion of several key projects already underway, including the Marisol boat ramp, which is expected to break ground in September. Another project he’s eager to move forward is the Silent Wind Sports Project, which is currently under review by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

With over 30 years of experience in banking and commercial lending, Medders believes his financial background continues to be a valuable asset to the council as it maintains the city’s solid fiscal standing. He also emphasized his continued dedication to transparency and accessibility for all residents.

“I want to finish what we’ve started,” Medders said, as he asked for the community’s support for another term in office.
