The (6-5) 2025 PIECHS Tarpons football team wrapped up its season with a district championship. Unfortunately, the team got ousted in the Bi-District round by district 15-4A Div 2, fourth seed, Robstown in a 38-28 final. The players left it all on the field and for their efforts the Tarpons were well-represented across both sides of the ball in the All-District selections.

Earning District MVP honors was running back Luis Ramos*. Other superlatives include, Jose Alonso Jr was selected as Offensive LOY, while Edward Garza was selected with both Defensive POY* and Offensive POY honors.

On the offensive side of the ball, Thomas Garcia earned First Team Center*, Eric Gonzalez First Team Guard*, Jamil Vasquez Second Team Guard, Jeremey Sollozo First Team Tackle, Pedro Gomez Second Team Tight End, Michael Finona First Team Tailback/Halfback*, Angel Dominguez Honorable Mention Tailback/Halfback, Alvardo Rocha First Team Fullback*, Bryan Ramirez Honorable Mention Fullback, Miles Moore Second Team Inside Receiver, Grayson Estes Second Team Inside Receiver, Logan Bennett Second Team Outside Receiver, and  Bryan  Martinez Honorable Mention Quarterback.

Defensively, Jahi Vasquez earned First Team Down Lineman*, Hazzaih Perdomo First Team Down Lineman, Denzel Garza First Team Inside Linebacker*, Michael Finona First Team Outside Linebacker*, Elijah Alvarez Honorable Mention, Jerry Troncoso First Team Defensive End, Miles Moore Second Team Defensive End, Jesus Ramos First Team Corner*, Grayson Estes First Team Safety*, and Tristan Green Second Team Safety.

In Special Teams, Miles Moore received First Team Deep Snapper, and Luis Ulloa received First Team Punt & First Team Place Kicker honors.

Port  Isabel  will  graduating a great leader in QB, Bryan Martinez who was presented with the teams’ Offensive MVP and Fighting Heart Awards by the coaching staff this week. Backup quarterback Grayson Estes is poised to take the helm next season, and with all four recognized offensive linemen returning, things look promising for him.

Four-Year starting running back, Luis Ramos, may not have been a vocal leader, but he led by example as he spearheaded the Tarpons rushing attack. While it’s certainly a significant loss, expect Elijah Alvarez, Bryan Ramirez, and Angel Dominguez to step up and carry the rushing load.

Defensively, the Tarpons will take a big hit in losing two-way starter Edward Garza, but the returning front seven looks like a stout unit for the upcoming season.

*= Unanimous.
