The City of South Padre Island has received a check for $3,000 from H-E-B and Keep Texas Beautiful to keep the island resort beautiful.
City officials said they are using the money to buy environmentally-friendly bags to be distributed to school children and at the Boys & Girls Club.
“We purchased about 750 bags,” Victor Baldovinos, SPI environmental health director, said in an interview. “We are also going to work on a recycling campaign that involves some advertising.”
