The 2010-’11 district season did not begin on a high note for the Port Isabel Lady Tarpons Tuesday night. They played their first league game of the year at Zapata and lost a 56-41 decision.
Two of head coach Alan Ward’s starting players each picked up their second fouls early in the game. “We got into foul trouble immediately,” Ward told me before the start of practice Wednesday afternoon. “Wuendi (Flores) got her second foul two minutes into the game. Gabby (Gonzalez) got her second one not long after that, so we were in foul trouble the whole night.”
