The Port Isabel Lady Tarpons hosted the Lady Red Ants of Progreso on Friday night and got the best of the encounter, 56-41.
One of the old sayings in team sports is that records can be deceiving; Progreso came in at 1-3 in district play. “Yeah, they did give us a battle and I really expected that,” Head Coach Alan Ward said after the game. “They’ve improved a lot over last year. They played hard. They didn’t give up.”
The Ladies led 17-8 at the close of the first quarter, 27-9 at the break, and 47-31 at the end of the third period.
