PIISD announces Top 10

Children are the pride of the community that raised them, and for the Point Isabel Independent School District (PIISD), the top 10 seniors of Port Isabel High School are no exception.

Graduating at the top of her class is valedictorian, Mayra Rodriguez with a GPA of 6.4756. She plans to attend Texas A&M in College Station to major in philosophy and minor in psychology then attend law school to earn a doctorate. In five years, she sees herself working on her first year of law school.

This year’s salutatorian is Joshua Molina with a GPA of 6.1949, and he plans to attend Texas A&M and major in finance. In five years, he sees himself getting a corporate job as a financer.

Graduating third in his class is Samuel Denny with a GPA of 6.0694, and he plans to go to the University of Kansas to major in sports management. In five years, he hopes to be working with basketball and continue to help people whenever he can.

Alysa Horner ranked fourth in her class with a GPA of 6.0027 and plans on attending Prairie View A&M University on a Navy Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) scholarship for nursing. In five years, she sees herself attending to a wounded sailor or marine.
