Ten Port Isabel Tarpons were recently named to the All-District 32-3A baseball team.
Making the All-District first team were pitcher Bobby Barker, 1st baseman Blake Sapp, and 3rd baseman Jesse Loera. Named to the second team All-District were pitcher Johnny Loera and outfielder Armando Fierro. The honorable mention list shows shortstop Josh Barker, 2nd baseman Kenny Herrera, outfielders Roger Villareal and James Ramirez, and catcher Victor “Bucky” Rivera.
Bobby Barker is one of the four graduating seniors in the group who has played his last high school game. He ranked sixth academically in the class of 2011 and was also named Co-Most Valuable Player in the district. He played in the outfield when he wasn’t pitching. “He only lost one game (as a pitcher),” said Holland. “…and that was the playoff game against Orange Grove.”
