According to Margie Swartz, a spokesperson for the event, their mission is to raise money for local women battling breast cancer as well as bring awareness to the community.
Women who have suffered and made it through the ordeal share their stories with those who attend, proving that, if caught early, the survival rate is high.
There are a number of events designed to deliver a high impact on the community and raise the needed funds to help women who are stricken with the cancer, as well as their families.
The event starts off on Friday, Sept. 30 with “Double Down for the Cause” Casino Night. It will take place at Louie’s Backyard from 7-11 p.m. Registration for the Walk for Women Bay Fishing Tournament will also be at Louie’s Backyard from 6-8 p.m.
