Special to the Parade
The McAllen Chamber of Commerce and area chefs are currently planning the 11th Annual International Food Festival, “A Night at the Carnival.”
The event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 23 at the New McAllen Convention Center. Come savor the fine cuisine from some of the best McAllen Area restaurants.
The festival will offer an exciting opportunity for restaurants and caterers to showcase the many delicacies from their menus and promote their businesses. Last year’s event featured over 35 restaurants serving sample portions of main course items such as Prime Rib, Shrimp, Mexican food, pasta, coffee, desserts and much more.
A panel of judges through a blind tasting competition will once again select the recipients of the Best of Show Award in the two different participating categories. The public attending the event will also have the opportunity to participate in selecting their favorite restaurant for the coveted “People’s Choice Award.”
Every year, a theme is chosen to decorate the exhibitors’ booths and create a fun environment. This year, the theme will be Carnival, an evening of fun and celebration, and visitors can expect related décor and a live music band performing on stage.
With summer parties, weddings and graduations around the corner, this will be a great opportunity to sample food from several restaurants and bakeries that may provide catering services.
Tickets are sold at the Chamber, children 10 and under eat free.
The event will be held from 6-90 p.m., and it is sure to be an evening of international cuisine, music and entertainment for the entire family.
