The Port Isabel Lady Tarpons softball team traveled to PSJA Southwest Tuesday night and took their big bats along with them. All nine players scored and the Ladies needed only three innings to put away the Lady Javelinas, 23-3.
In fifth place in the District 32-3A standings with a 2-7 (5-13 overall) league mark, Port Isabel had already been eliminated from playoff contention. Last week the Ladies lost two low-scoring games, 2-1 to Grulla, and 4-0 at La Feria.
“We got better as the season went on,” head coach Jesus Garza said. “It’s just a shame it took most of the season to do it.” Most of the team will return for next season as Garza will lose only two starters from this team to graduation.
