There is a Chinese Proverb that states: “Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.”
At Derry Elementary, students are doing just that as the school has implemented Learning Together (“L2R”) and Math Together, as an educational program which assists students become proficient in both reading and math.
The ability to read is at the core of student success. “L2R” and Math Together are research based programs that promote one-on-one peer intervention that assists students improve reading and math skills. Concurrently both the tutor and tutee benefit as it allows for the positive interaction as the two endeavors to decode and understand reading or math concepts.
