Wednesday was International Surfing Day. The South Texas Chapter of Surfrider Foundation celebrated by holding a free surf clinic for children at Isla Blanca Park.

Rob Nixon, Chairman for Surfrider Foundation South Texas, said International Surfing Day is a pseudo holiday created by Surfrider Foundation and Surf Magazine to get together and surf.

International Surfing Day started as nine events and has grown to over 200 events in 25 countries, Nixon said, local surf shops provided surfboards for the free clinic. He said Surfing Day is getting bigger and better.
