$36 million awarded for port project

CCRMAThe Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority awarded a contract in the amount of $36,055,194.43 to Ballenger Construction Company, Inc. for highway improvements to the SH 550 Direct Connector Project along U.S. 77/83 and SH 550 (formerly known as FM 511).

The Direct Connector Toll Facility Project, included in the Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority’s (CCRMA) transportation network, will connect in the vicinity of U.S. 77/83 and SH 550 and end just south of Old Alice Road.

Over the last several years, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the CCRMA have been cooperatively developing the different phases of the SH 550 project. Currently, the CCRMA is developing the Port Spur Project, slated to be completed at the end of this year. For the Direct Connector Project, the CCRMA worked with the Cameron County Commissioners’ Court to secure the interim financing for this project.
