A new Island event is scheduled for New Year’s Day at the popular Boomerang Billy’s Beach Bar & Grill.
‘The First Ever Penguin Plunge’ kicks off the New Year with music, art and antics. Support local charities by bidding on a mesquite carving by local artist Andy Hancock. Also, become a 2013 member of the International Idiots Club and receive a tee shirt to sport those colors all year long. Penguin Plunge shirts are available for purchase while they last. Free sandcastle lessons with the Boomerang Belles Sandcastle Team and music by Leslie Blasing will set the stage for the 2 p.m. plunge in the Gulf of Mexico.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., which the plunge beginning promptly at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Boomerang Billy’s Beach Bar & Grill, located at 2612 Gulf Blvd., South Padre Island.
