Over 3,000 participants have already registered with an expected 2,000 more to be added by the end of the week.
The event will cover ground from Port Isabel to South Padre Island. The Fitness Walk Course is three miles and starts at the Port Isabel Community Center through Port Isabel and the causeway. The finish line will be at the Padre Balli Statue on South Padre Island.
The race course is a 10K or 6.2 miles and starts at the Port Isabel Community Center and ends at Louie’s Backyard on South Padre Island.
Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners as well as the first through third place finishers in each male and female age division of the 10K. The awards will be presented at the awards ceremony immediately following the race and scoring.
Water stations for participants will be at the end of the causeway and at the end of the race. Police protection and EMS services will be on hand at the event. The run is USA Track and Field certified.
Shuttle services will be available to the tented area in front of Louie’s Backyard, for participants of the Fitness Walk, to the runner’s awards ceremony or back to Port Isabel.
Participants may check in at the Port Isabel Chamber office, from 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 11, and from 7-9 a.m. Saturday, January 12, at the Port Isabel Community Center, 213 Yturria St.
