Surfrider Shindig this Saturday

Special to the Parade

The Surfrider Foundation South Texas Chapter is stoked to announce that it’s time for the best and biggest Shrimp Boil on South Padre Island.

Join the Surfrider Foundation at 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, for its Fifth Annual Surfrider Shindig at Louie’s Backyard. This year’s Shindig is entitled “No Beach Access?!” and will be a celebration of the Open Beaches Act to raise awareness of the threat it faces in the wake of the Texas Supreme Court’s ruling on the Severance vs. Patterson Case.

Tickets can be purchased at On the Beach, Island Native and at Paragraphs on Padre Blvd. for $20 or two for $30.

The Surfrider Shindig 2013: “No Beach Access?!” will also provide ways for attendees to help the Surfrider Foundation in their Texas wide campaign to restore the Open Beaches Act and plug in such as a video testimonial area where individuals can express why public beaches in Texas are so important to them.

The Surfrider Shindig 2013: “No Beach Access?!” will be a celebration of the Open Beaches Act above all with the music of JunBug and the Chris Rivera Band and the biggest Shrimp Boil on South Padre Island.

The event will also feature a silent and live auction and raffle that will include a 6’2” tall Channel Islands and 9’2” Yater Spoon Surfboards. A trip to Nicaragua is also among the raffle items.

Thanks to Rise Up Surf Tours, Surfrider Foundation will also be giving away a five day, four night all inclusive trip for two to their surf camp in Salinas Grande, Nicaragua. Airfare not included.
