Special to the Parade
The Narciso Martinez Cultural Arts Center’s Writers’ Forum in San Benito is sponsoring “Women’s Voices” on March 16 as part of International Women’s Month.
The event will feature a number of area women writers who will read from their original work and two art exhibits by women artists.
The women authors come from a variety of backgrounds which brings a mixture of subjects and approaches to their work. Their writings reflect a wide span of stories depicting the experiences of their lives. “Some will make you cry, laugh, smile, and/or remember. You can bet that it will be a very interesting night listening to this group of colorful, talented writers,” according to event organizer Rita Conde.
Presenters will include Brenda Nettles Riojas, Mona Sizer, Dolores Perez, Ruth Wagner, Diana Dominquez, Julieta Corpus, Kathy Raines, Robin Cate and Briza Rodriguez.
Art Works featuring paintings, sculptures, ceramics, drawings and photography will be presented by Maria Lozano, Martha B. Ortiz, Marcelina Gonzalez, Martha Hernandez, Nayelli Bautista, Carolina Mount, Bianca Camarillo, Ashley Nicol Rodriguez, Karina Melendez, Nailea Rivas, Victoria Elias Calles, Cinthia Jimenez and Wendy Reyna.
The event will start at 6:30 p.m. with a social hour with readings starting at 7 p.m.
