Special to the Parade
The Sixth Annual Jackson Street Classic Car Show will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013, in historic Downtown Harlingen. Cars will be displayed along Jackson between 4th and Commerce. The show is being organized by the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America. It is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“People love to go down memory lane,” said Moses Mendoza, President of the RGV-AACA. “They enjoy seeing a car like the first one they owned, or maybe the first one they had when they got married. The cars are just so historic. They bring back a lot of memories.”
More than 160 cars participated in the show last April.
Registration for this “show and shine” car show will open at 8 a.m. on April 13. The first 100 entrants will get an event T-shirt. In lieu of a monetary entry fee, participants are asked to bring non-perishable food products for the Harlingen Neighborhood Food Pantry. There will be live music and an awards presentation at 2 p.m., including a “Ladies’ Choice,” Exhibitors’ Choice,” “Texas Army National Guards’ Choice,” and other awards.
