March 31 is Easter Sunday and Laguna Madre area churches will be observing the holiday this weekend in each of the cities.
Our Lady Star of the Sea will begin their services Thursday night with a Mass of the Last Supper at 7 p.m. and will have special services through Easter Sunday. Friday at 3 p.m. will have the Stations of the Cross and Veneration at 7 p.m., Saturday at 8 p.m. will be another special service. Sunday will have traditional Easter Mass.
The First United Methodist Church in Port Isabel will start Sunday with a Sunrise Service at 7:30 a.m. followed by an Easter Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Fellowship is at 9:30 a.m. followed by Traditional Easter Service at 11 a.m. Guest speaker Adrienne Zermeno will deliver the sermon, “The Rolling Stone.”
In Laguna Vista Christ’s Harbor Church will begin Easter Sunday with a Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. at Roloff Park. At 8:30 a.m. traditional service will be held and Praise Service at 11 a.m. After the morning services a pancake breakfast will be served in the fellowship hall. An Easter egg hunt is scheduled after the 11 a.m. service.
The Farmer’s Market on South Padre Island at The Shores will also be hosting an Easter egg hunt. The fourth annual Easter Egg Hunt begins at 12:15 p.m. and will have special eggs with prizes.
