RRR pic2-5-9-13South Padre Island is now home to a new snow cone shop. Pleasure Island will now be serving the Rio Grande Valley’s favorite treats and eats.

Owners Jaron and Julie Berman as well as Pete Welty said their shop is an alternative to the full service restaurants on the Island.

“It is a place you can come and grab something real quick and go back to the beach,” Berman said.

Pleasure Island is currently serving 68 different flavors of snow cones that are made from scratch and never pre-mixed. And there’s more expected to be added to the menu. Berman said their ice maker is state of the art and makes the finest crushed ice anywhere.

Berman said before opening Pleasure Island, they visited many of the snowcone stands around the Rio Grande Valley to find out what was popular, so they are confident they will serve anyone’s favorite flavor and toppings. Gummy bears, pickles or fresh fruit will all be available for customers to accent their snow cones.

Along with snow cones, Pleasure Island will also serve popular snacks from around the Rio Grande Valley. Berman said the RGV has a unique selection of snack food that has not made its way to the Island until now.

“We get a lot of people asking for the nachos or hot Cheetos and cheese. We are going to be happy to be the only ones on the Island selling it,” Berman said.

Pleasure Island will not only sell popular snacks they also will rent bicycles and scooters in the near future to make going and coming from the beach a breeze.

“We got many plans for this place and we are happy to get started,” Berman said.

Pleasure Island is located at 2600 Padre Blvd., Suite B across from Jakes. Their hours of operation are 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.
