Special to the Parade
Marine Military Academy will hold its 47th Annual Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 25, at 11 a.m. in the Colonel Philip J. Yeckel Memorial Auditorium.
The guest speaker for the graduation ceremony will be Jason Gillman, Class of 1988. Gillman is the executive vice president of the Gillman Companies.
The Class of 2013 valedictorian and salutatorian will then address their fellow cadets before the diplomas are awarded to the 61 graduating seniors. The event will conclude with the traditional tossing of the covers (hats) by the MMA Corps of Cadets. Parents and family members from across the country and around the world will be present for this pinnacle event.
Prior to the commencement exercises, the MMA Corps of Cadets will hold the Class of 2013 Graduation Parade at 9 a.m. on the MMA Parade Grounds. Gillman will be the guest of honor and reviewing officer at this occasion.
The community is invited to this battalion-size parade.
During the parade, MMA will hold an awards ceremony. MMA military staff and guests from military-affiliated organizations will present selected cadets with their accolades. Should the parade be cancelled due to inclement weather, the awards ceremony will be moved to Yeckel Auditorium.
