The Point Isabel Independent School District (PIISD) Board at its meeting Tuesday hired Maribel Valdez to serve as the new principal at Derry Elementary. Valdez is currently the assistant principal at Port Isabel High School.
Superintendent Dr. Lisa Garcia said the school board will continue to fill vacant teaching positions throughout their summer board meetings.
