South Padre Island firefighter Marcus Smith has been named the new Chief of the SPI Fire Department.
The Dallas-area native recently retired from the Lancaster Fire Department as Captain after serving 28 years. He also served his hometown of Wilmer, Texas as its Fire Chief from 2005-12 to help his community as his schedule would allow.
