Daniella Murchison placed fifth in the shot put competition at the National Junior Olympics in North Carolina on Monday.
The field was made up of 49 girls from around the country and Murchison’s best throw was almost 41 feet, according to summer track and field coach Johvonne Howard, who spoke to the Press by phone on Wednesday.
