Roger Kent Geery

Roger Kent Geery passed away at his home with family and his beloved pets, Mattie, Sassy and Bitsy, on South Padre Island, Texas, December 27, 2013 after a long and brave battle with ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease.  He was born on August 5, 1937 in Salina, Kansas to Gilbert and Eulala Geery.  He was predeceased by his parents and his nephew Travis Geery of Tecumseh, KS.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susan Wilkins Geery, his brother Alan (Melinn) Geery of Tecumseh, KS,  children Robert “Sean” (Tracy) Geery and his son, Justin of OH, KellyAnn (Timothy) Allen and their children Zachary, Sarah and Rachael Allen of WV, Anjanette (Marc) Tellier and their daughter, Rebecca of WV.  Also surviving are his nephew John (Erika) Geery and their children Kirk and Johnny of Lawrence, KS, brother in-law and sister-in-Law, Tom and Geen Wilkins, nephews Timothy (Rachel) Wilkins, Mark (CC) Wilkins, Kenny (Julie) Wilkins and 7 grand nephews and nieces all of McAllen, Texas.
Roger K Geery earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1962 at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.  He worked for Dow Chemical and for Fluor Corporation until he retired.  On South Padre Island he volunteered at Sea Turtle, Inc. as a Sea Turtle Patroller, helped with rescue and release and was one of Allison’s Lifeguards, work that gave him much joy.  He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Sea Turtle, Inc. when family travel arrangements are finalized. Services have been entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Los Fresnos. (956) 233-6333
