Ladies win two; district record unblemished

Special to the PRESS

Tarpon logoThe Port Isabel Lady Tarpons volleyball team beat Raymondville last week and Grulla this past Tuesday to improve to 4-0 in district play in 2014. Both matches were on the road.

The Lady Tarpons got by the Lady Bearkats on Saturday in straight sets, although it wasn’t easy. They won the first two sets, each by the score of 25-15, but Raymondville was not going down that easily. The Lady Kats tied it up at 20 after PI had led by four. Neither team could get in front by the two points necessary to win until Port Isabel finally did it at 30-28.

“We actually had a lead at 20-16 and we kinda’ let Raymondville back in the match,” head coach Julie Breedlove told the PRESS this week. “Then when it was tied at 20, we shared points until we got to 30.”
