Members of the Port Isabel Community Garden met Thursday evening to plant the seeds of a new season. The garden is the first of its kind in the area and is open to all locals who are interested in learning and practicing basic gardening skills. It is located at the Port Isabel Housing Authority in the heart of the community near the Boys and Girls Club and the city’s Water and Navigation Districts.
The Port Isabel Community Garden was established in the spring of 2014 by a grant-funded project, Growing and Nourishing Healthy Communities, and is in the beginning of its second season of production.
