Local wood sculptor and sandcastle extraordinaire, Andy Hancock, is at it again. His current endeavor is a sculpture of a set of dolphins that will be on display at the Super 8 on South Padre Island.
Thursday afternoon, Hancock made his way to Laguna Heights to start work on his new piece. With a chainsaw and angle grinder in hand, he began carving into an old Mesquite tree. He calls this form of art tree recycling; taking a lost tree, whether it is dying or being cut down, and turning it into a beautiful piece of work.
