The Port Isabel Tarpons went bear hunting last week and found a whole team of them in Corpus Christi. They bagged the lot and came away with a 42-24 win over the Bears of West Oso.
With the win, the Tarpons move into a three-way tie for second place in the district with Raymondville and Rio Hondo, all with 2-1 records in league play. All three teams trail District 16-4A (Division II) leader Orange Grove, who is 3-0 after last week’s 21-18 win at Rio Hondo. Port Isabel has also clinched a playoff berth and would at least tie for the district title if they win out.
