Coca-Cola Beach stabbing lawsuit settled

A lawsuit filed by Derek Madrigal, a Dallas college student, against Coca-Cola company, Isla Grand Resort, and seven other companies after he was stabbed multiple times on South Padre Island during Spring Break 2013 in has been settled for an undisclosed amount. Madrigal was stabbed nine times while attending the now defunct Coca-cola beach by multiple Mexican mafia members and his hospitalization prevented him from finishing the remainder of the semester. A hearing and trial date was originally scheduled to occur this month before a settlement was reached. Nearly a dozen gang members have been convicted for the stabbing.
