For 35 years, Beach Reach SPI has been serving coeds who come to the Island for Spring Break, and this year is no different.
The volunteer group will once again be providing free shuttle rides across the Island during peak times.
Director Buddy Young says Beach Reach “works with the City of South Padre Island to help keep students safe during Spring Break and also engage them in conversations about spiritual matters.”
From Sunday, March 15 to Thursday, March 19, Spring Breakers in need of a lift back to their hotel, or anywhere on the Island, can call Beach Reach to ask for a ride from one of their many colorfully decorated passenger vans. The group will also have shuttles stationed at Louie’s Backyard and Clayton’s Beach Bar on Thursday, March 12 and again from the Sunday, March 15 through Thuirsday, March 19.
For those who work up an appetite during all the Spring Break festivities, Beach Reach will also be serving free pancake breakfasts from Monday, March 16 through Thursday, March 19. The breakfasts will be held from 8 a.m. until noon at Island Baptist Church. Midnight breakfasts will also be served in the Louie’s Backyard parking lot from midnight to 3 a.m. Sunday, March 15 through Thursday, March 19.
Shuttles will be available from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. and will only make pick-ups and drop-offs on the Island itself. They will not travel to Port Isabel. To ask for a ride, call (956)761-1611.
