A single vehicle accident early Thursday morning injured six, including one critically, according to authorities. The vehicle, a 2000 Ford Explorer, was traveling from Brownsville into Port Isabel on Highway 48 when it drove through an intersection and over a curb before crashing into the drive-through area of Church’s Chicken located at 1748 TX-100.

The six occupants inside the vehicle sustained injuries and were transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen and Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. One passenger was transported to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition, according to authorities. An extrication device had to be used to free one of the passengers in the vehicle.
