The Port Isabel Community Center hosted a free Heath Fair Tuesday afternoon to promote general health and educate the community on health outreach opportunities available to them. Providers and representatives from Su Clinica, Hoy Healthcare Unlimited, Inc., Tu Salud Si Cuenta, Salud y Vida, Molina Healthcare, Pregnancy Resource Center, and the Cameron County Department of Health and Human Services were all in attendance to provide information on a variety of issues including pregnancy, diabetes and high blood pressure, all of which are above the national average in the county.

“The goal is to get the community out to have people the need the help, for them to know that we do have services for them,” said community health worker Cecilia Zamora.

The event will be a monthly affair in an effort to improve the area’s overall heath and health awareness. Call (956) 755-0680 for more information to learn how small changes can make a major difference in maintaining and improving health.
