Ebony Lane residents in Laguna Vista will begin seeing actual street reconstruction next week, with a targeted completion date of late August, Town officials report.

“We anticipate the reconstruction of Ebony Lane from Hibiscus to FM 510 to commence on Monday, Aug. 3. The project should be completed within 30 days,” City Manager Rolando Vela said.

The $186,000 paving project was interrupted for the placement of a new 15-foot deep sewer line by the Laguna Madre Water District, to replace the problematic older line. The sewer line project has dominated activity on the street since its scheduled start date in May. Reported sink holes were believed to have been caused by the sewer line, officials said.

Located down the center of Ebony Lane, the sewer line project ran from Hibiscus to Taylor streets.

“Laguna Madre Water District just completed replacing the main sewer line that runs in the middle of Ebony Lane. We were waiting for this project to be completed the street improvements on it,” Vela said.
