The alluring smell of butter and the sporadic sound of popping will now fill Room 402 at the Port Isabel Junior High. Wells Fargo Bank donated a popcorn machine and paper to the Life Skills classroom. Wells Fargo Service Manager, Delia Camacho suggested the donation, “We (Wells Fargo) used to give away popcorn in the lobby, but haven’t done it in a long time. The machine was just collecting dust so we decided to donate,” Camacho said.
Camacho has a personal connection to Room 402. Her daughter, Brianna Garcia is a student. “(Room) 402 does a lot of life skills, such as cooking, washing clothes and dishes,” Camacho explained.
Camacho reminisced about the positive experiences she has had with the school. “The school is very supportive. They really understand that kids come in all forms and learn in different ways. The staff is very supportive. Brianna calls Principal Gonzales her BFF (best friend forever),” she said.
“I have a close relationship with her teachers. Most parents only hear from the school when their children have done something wrong, but I hear all the wonderful things that Brianna is accomplishing everyday,” Camacho said.
